Our Goals
It has been the goal of Gainesville Housing to strengthen quality of life through coordinated and sustained efforts to: improve existing housing conditions, create new housing opportunities, and to connect people to housing resources.

- Decrease GHA’s dependency on HUD subsidies.
- Empower and equip families so that they may improve their quality of life and achieve economic stability ending the cycle of poverty.
- Improve GHA operational efficiencies.
- Serve as a leader in the development of affordable housing and revitalization throughout our community.
- Educate and advocate the need for affordable housing on a local, state and national level.
Community Investment and Redevelopment Dollars
Since 2015, Gainesville Housing has worked diligently to preserve and expand the supply of affordable housing in Gainesville, Georgia. It has achieved this through various initiatives, such as issuing bonds, partnering with developers, and utilizing tax credits. Some of the highlights of its accomplishments are:
- Issuing $113 million in bonds preserving and generating 516 units of affordable housing. These bonds helped finance the acquisition, rehabilitation, and construction of several properties, such as Linwood Apartments, Sycamore Ridge, and Waterside Oaks.
- Gainesville Housing Corporation, a 501c3 subsidiary, is designed to pursue development opportunities and leverage resources for affordable housing. Through the low-income housing tax credit program and its development partners, Gainesville Housing Corporation invested $108 million, creating and preserving a total of 738 affordable apartments. Some of the projects include Walton Summit, Walton Harbor, Midtown Villages and Harrison Village.
Gainesville Housing, Gainesville GA has demonstrated its commitment and leadership in providing and expanding affordable housing for the residents of Gainesville, Georgia. It has leveraged various sources of funding and partnerships to preserve and generate over 1,200 units of affordable housing in the past 8 years. Gainesville Housing continues to seek new opportunities and collaborations to fulfill its mission and vision for the community.
