Getting 'RAD' at Harrison Square and 'scattered sites'
Harrison Square Apartments – along with 31 apartments at smaller GH campuses (Will St., Banks St., Johnson St., Pine Street and MLK Jr. Blvd.) will be converting to RAD, Rental Housing Demonstration, a HUD program used to stabilize and upgrade existing housing and ensure continuing quality services to low-income residents. Additionally, in the process, Harrison Square Apartments will be completely rebuilt, adding many amenities, as well as bringing the total number of apartments to 120 – up from 75 previously. Gainesville Housing management has already held three meetings with residents to guide them through the process, and more communications will keep residents informed and at ease regarding the upgrades set to begin in 2024.
